A Journey That Changed Everything
The Dementia Roadmap was inspired by my family’s journey caring for my father-in-law, Gary, and strengthened by years of working alongside older adults and their families, giving me firsthand experience with dementia caregiver support.
When dementia entered our lives, we quickly learned that caregivers need more than medical information—they need encouragement, practical ideas, honest conversations, and hope. That’s why I created this website. My goal is simple: to share real-life experiences, trusted resources, and compassionate guidance so that no caregiver feels like they’re walking this journey alone.
My Mission
My mission is simple: to provide caregivers with practical advice, trustworthy resources, compassionate encouragement, and a place where they feel understood.
Whether you’re caring for a parent, spouse, grandparent, family member, or friend, I hope The Dementia Roadmap helps make your journey a little less overwhelming and reminds you that you are never alone.

Meet Andrea

I’m Andrea Wheatley, founder of The Dementia Roadmap. Before becoming a family caregiver, I spent years working alongside older adults and their families in senior living, including memory care. Today, dementia is also part of my family’s everyday life as we care for my father-in-law, Gary, at home.
The Dementia Roadmap grew from both sides of that experience—the professional lessons I learned while helping other families and the very different reality of living dementia caregiving day by day. My goal is to share practical ideas, trusted resources, honest experiences, and the things I wish more families knew as they navigate this journey.
I’m not here because I have every answer. I’m here because I understand how much it helps to have someone walking the road with you.
Thank you for being here
