Finding products that truly make dementia care safer or easier can be overwhelming. The Dementia Roadmap is building a collection of practical products and tools that may help with everyday challenges—from nighttime safety and wandering to personal care, comfort, engagement, and caregiver support. Our goal is to explain not just what a product is, but why it may be helpful and what families should consider before choosing it.
Recommendations will be selected with real-life dementia care in mind. When a product has been provided for evaluation, contains an affiliate link, or is part of a sponsored partnership, we will clearly disclose that information.
Safety & Wandering
Dementia can change a person’s awareness of hazards, surroundings, and personal safety. Products in this section are intended to help families create a safer environment while preserving as much independence and dignity as possible.
Products We’re Interested in Evaluating
We’re especially interested in evaluating products that may help families manage nighttime movement and wandering more safely, including bedside pressure or landing-mat alarms, door-exit alerts, motion-sensing devices, and other tools designed to notify caregivers without unnecessarily restricting the person with dementia.
As we evaluate products, we’ll share practical observations about setup, ease of use, caregiver alerts, comfort, and how well the product fits into everyday dementia care at home.
Daily Living & Personal Care
Everyday tasks can become more difficult as dementia progresses. This section will feature products that may make routines such as dressing, bathing, eating, medication management, and personal care simpler, safer, or less frustrating for both the person with dementia and their caregiver.
Comfort & Engagement
Familiar activities, meaningful routines, and comforting objects can help support connection, purpose, and quality of life. This section will include products designed for relaxation, sensory engagement, familiar hobbies, music, memory support, and meaningful activities that meet the person where they are.
Caregiver Tools
Caregivers need support too. This section will include practical tools that may help with organization, monitoring, scheduling, home safety, stress reduction, and the everyday responsibilities that come with caring for someone with dementia.
Product Reviews & Recommendations Coming Soon
We’re currently evaluating products and building this section. As recommendations are added, you’ll find practical information about what each product does, who it may help, what to consider before purchasing, and our observations when we’ve had an opportunity to evaluate it in a real-world caregiving setting.
How We Choose Products
We look for products that address real challenges faced by people living with dementia and the families who care for them. We consider ease of use, safety, practicality, comfort, and whether a product can realistically fit into everyday home care. When possible, we also hope to evaluate products in real-world caregiving situations so we can share practical observations with families.
A recommendation does not mean a product will be right for every person with dementia. Needs, abilities, behaviors, and living situations are different, so families should always consider what is appropriate for their individual situation.
For Product Manufacturers & Brands
We welcome opportunities to learn about products designed to support people living with dementia and their caregivers. The Dementia Roadmap may consider products for real-world evaluation, educational content, or inclusion in our recommendations when they align with the needs of the families we serve.
Product submissions or partnerships do not guarantee a positive recommendation. Our priority is providing families with useful, transparent, and trustworthy information.
